Sadly, without knowing the method given in the prior response, one will just have to work through it.

It doesn't matter what the actual day of the week was for November 25, 2020. Any day will do as a starting point from which to determine the corresponding day of the week for January 1st 2021, since the objective is to then work backwards to find the month in 2020 that matches the days of the week and dates, keeping in mind which months have 30 and 31 days.

Assume 11/25 is Sunday. That means 12/2 is a Sunday, 12/30 is also Sunday and therefore:

January 1, 2021 is a Tuesday.

So, which among the answer choices has the first of the month as Tuesday ?

Each of the below needing to be checked for which date the first Tuesday falls.

Working backwards from 11/25, 11/4 was a Sunday, therefore 10/28 was also and so 10/7.

This makes 9/30 Sunday and therefore 9/2.

8/26 also becomes Sunday and therefore 8/5.

This makes 7/29 and therefore 7/1 Sunday.

This makes June 24 and therefore June 3 Sunday.

With 31 days in May, this means May 27 and May 6 are Sundays.

5/6 Sunday
5/5 Saturday
5/4 Friday
5/3 Thursday
5/2 Wednesday and

5/1 Tuesday, matching the desired day in a month of the same number of days.

On the 25th of November in 2020, John was trying to make a new plan for January 2021. However, he did not have a new calendar that included January 2021. Then, in order to match a new plan for January 2021, which of the following months of 2020 should he look at?

A. March
B. April
C. May
D. June
E. July
Hello Experts, (KarishmaB, MartyMurray, Bunuel, gmatophobia, @gmatninja)

Is there a faster and better approach to this question? Can this be expected in the exams?

Thank you!
