Hi ramiav,
Lets say the are of triangle is p.
The area of trapezium with parallel sides 2X, 3X and height 3Y can be written as \(A+p = \frac{1}{2}(2X+3X)(3Y)\).
The area of triangle with base 3X and height 2Y can be written as \(a+p = \frac{1}{2}(3X)(2Y)\).
Evaluating p, can give you relation between a and A.
Hence, \(A - a = \frac{9XY}{2}\).
