Let w, x, y, and z be positive numbers such that w is 40 percent less than x, and x is 40 percent less than y. If z is 46 percent less than y, then z is what percent greater than w ?

A. 34%
B. 40%
C. 50%
D. 60%
E. 66%
Let, y = 100
then x = 0.6*100 = 60
then w = 0.6*60 = 36

z = (1-0.46)*100 = 54

z is (54-36 = 18) greater than w

as percentage \(= \frac{18}{36}*100 = 50\)

Answer: Option C
