In a barrel full of apples, 45% of the apples weigh more than 81 grams, and 81% of the apples weigh less than 145 grams. What percent of the apples in the barrel weigh more than 81 grams but less than 145 grams?

Let the number of apples in the barrel be 100.

While categorisation by weights, the number of apples weighing more than 81 grams = 45

Thus, the number of apples weighing less than 81 grams = 55.

0—————————-81 grams —————————————-1000 grams.

55 is the number of apples between (0-81) grams, 
 
 45 is the number of Apples between (81 grams - 1000 grams).

0 ————————— 81 grams ———-145grams ————-1000 grams.

Given that the number of apples more than 145 grams is 19.

Then the number of apples less than 145 grams but more than 81 grams = 45-19 =  26 grams.

Option C

So basically,
55 percent apples not meet condition since 45 meet the 81g 
19 percent apples not meet the condition since 81 meet the 145g

So apples that does not meet any one condition are 74 percent means rest 26 meet the condition.
The apples cant overlap since they both are on different side of weigh range..

Let overlap = B
Total = L + M - B
100% = 45% + 81% - B
B = 126% - 100% = 26%

From given 81 apples weigh less than 145 g
And 45 apples weigh more than 81g

Subtracting 81 from 100 gives 19 apples which weigh >= 145 g
Hence apples weight more than 81g but less than 145g is 45 - 19 = 26  Option C
