Since the difference between A and B is just 1 cent in every case, I get why answer should be 'B', Although the OA looks like its 'C' and I'm a little confused by that... Is there something I'm missing here?

How much money would Kimberly have saved if she had bought her cheese at Deli A instead of Deli B?

(1) She bought equal amounts of Provolone and Swiss, and twice that amount of American.
(2) She bought 3.6 kilograms of cheese in all.

Kudos for a correct solution.

Question : Money Saved = ?

Point to Note: Money Saved Depends on how much exact Total quantity of Cheese were purchased from Deli A because on every Cheese the amount saved is $1 per kg.

Statement 1: She bought equal amounts of Provolone and Swiss, and twice that amount of American.
This only tells us the ratio of quantities of Cheese purchased but not the exact Quantities of each of the three cheese Purchased or total amount of cheese purchased. Hence
NOT SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: She bought 3.6 kilograms of cheese in all.
This tells us the Total Quantity of Cheese purchased but not the exact Quantities of each of the three cheese Purchased.
i.e. Total Saving = 3.6*$1 = $3.6. Hence
SUFFICIENT

Answer: Option B

800score Official Solution:

Statement (1) is not sufficient by itself because we only learn the ratio of the weights of the cheeses. Kimberly might have bought just a couple hundred grams, or she might have bought many kilograms.

Statement (2) tells us exactly what we need to know: how much cheese was purchased. No matter the distribution, each kilogram of cheese would be $1 less at Deli A. So the answer is (B).

Let's say

Kimberly bought 3.4 kg American and 0.1 kg provolone and 0.1 kg swiss at "A"

&

Kimberly bought 0.1 kg American and 0.1 kg provolone and 3.4 kg swiss at "B"

Then
At "A" Total = (3.4x15) + (0.1x17) + (0.1x19) = 51 + 1.7 + 1.9 = 54.6
At "B" Total = (0.1x16) + (0.1x18) + (3.4x20) = 1.6 + 1.8 + 68 = 71.4

Difference = 16.8

Anyone can elaborate on this..??
