This should really be posted in the DS Forum (this is the PS Forum), but I'll answer the question regardless.
We're asked for the value of |X|. This question just requires a little math and a bit of note-taking (to make sure that you're answering the question that is asked).
1) X = |X|
IF....
X = 1
1 = |1| and the answer to the question is |1| = 1.
IF...
X = 2
2 = |2| and the answer to the question is |2| = 2.
Fact 1 is INSUFFICIENT
2) X^2 = 9
From this, X = 3 or -3. You have to remember what the question asks for though...
IF...
X = 3, then the answer to the question is |3| = 3
IF...
X = -3, then the answer to the question is |-3| = 3
Fact 2 is SUFFICIENT

Per statement 1, x=|x| --> possible for all values of \(x \geq 0\), giving you many different values of |x|. Thus this statement is not sufficient.
Per statement 2, \(x^2=9\) -->\(x=\pm 3\) ---> You will get the same value of |x|= 3 for both x= 3 or -3. Thus this statement is sufficient.
B is the correct answer.
