I can't be agreed with the answer. Need more explanation.

What is the value of x?

(1) |x| = 3 --> x = 3 or x = -3. Not sufficient.

(2) x = |3|. Since |3| = 3, then x = 3. Sufficient.

Answer: B.

(2) x = |3|

Question : x =?

(1) |x| = 3

means x = 3 or -3 Insufficient

(2) x = |3|

means x = 3 as x is equal to an absolute value which is always non - negative. Sufficient

(B)

We need to find What is the value of x?

STAT 1: |x| = 3

=> x = ±3
=> x = + 3 or -3
=> We have two possible values of x
=> NOT SUFFICIENT

STAT 2: x = |3|

=> x = +3
=> SUFFICIENT

So, Answer will be B
Hope it helps!
