Let the temp midnight be x, so the temp Noon = 1.25x

(1) The temperature of the place at midnight is 20% lower than the temperature of the same place at noon
Its the same as the ques stem.
Temp can be 100,125 or 200,250
Insufficient

(2) The temperature of the place at noon is 10 units greater than the temperature of the place at midnight
1.25x - x = 10
x = 40
Sufficient

Option B

I got the answer x=40units, but its 40 units, i.e x=|40|. It can be degree celsius/Fahrenheit. Hence I feel it should be E. Can anyone tell me where am I wrong?

By ‘units’, it just means we don’t have to worry about whether it’s °C or °F. Whatever unit is used stays the same throughout. In Data Sufficiency, we only care about getting a definite value, not the actual unit.
