Strange question. But I believe the answer should be D. Both statements tell you that Betty and Sara don't earn the same amount. Also, both statements tell you Betty earns more than Sara.

Ok I am a bit rusty....but I say its E...

Stem say betty and sara make more than 0.5 mill...we dont know if its 1 mil, 2 mil or exactly 0.5 milll


1) betty is closer to .5 mil OK, but if sara is close 1 mil and the combines salary is 1.5...sara makes more money...Insuff

2) it just says that betty is closer to 350K than is sara, cause sara might be making 2 mil..insuff

Here's how i arrived at sol

Ques says tht both Betty(B) and Sara(S) earn greater than 50k bucks

a)B's salary is closer to 50k than S
e.g B=51k and S=54k ..Means that S's salary>B's salary so SUFFICIENT

b)B's salary is closer to 35k than S
e.g B=52k and S=55k...Means that B is nearer to 35k ..Again S>B so SUFF

clearly both are sufficient so D

I misunderstood the question. I thought Sara + Betty making more than 50,000, but not each of them. The word "both" confused me.

(1) Betty's annual salary is closer to $50,000 than is Wilma's.

----$50,000---(Betty)----(Wilma)---- So, as you can see Wilma's annual salary is greater than Betty's. Sufficient.

(2) Betty's annual salary is closer to $35,000 than it is to Wilma's annual salary.

$35,000----$50,000---(Betty)----(Wilma)---- Again Wilma's annual salary is greater than Betty's. Sufficient.

Answer: D.
