We need to find the number of pages.
Statement 1 gives us the dimensions of each page. This alone is insufficient without the dimensions of the entire book.
Statement 2 gives us the average number of words per page. This alone is insufficient without the overall number of pages of the entire book.
The two statements together are still insufficient to find the number of pages.
The correct answer is E.

To find:
- • The number of pages of a certain journal article
Analysing Statement 1
- • As per the information given in statement 1, the size of each page is 11/2 inches by 8 inches
- o From this, we can’t find out the number of pages in that article
Hence, statement 1 is not sufficient to answer
Analysing Statement 2
- • As per the information given in statement 2, the average number of words per page is 250
- o From this, we can’t find out the number of pages in that article
Hence, statement 2 is not sufficient to answer
Combining Both Statements
if we combine both the statements, we get
- • Size of each page is 11/2 inches by 8 inches
• Average number of words per page is 250
But, even from these information, we can’t find out the number of pages in that journal article
Hence, the correct answer is option E.
Answer: E
