Question: Average miles per gasoline in journey=?
Statement 1: The total cost of the gasoline used by the car for the 180 mile trip was $12.00
This information only gives us
1) the total cost implied in gasoline but it doesn't give us the cost per gallon gasoline to calculate the quantity of gasoline used
2) It gives us that total distance of trip = 180 miles
Since we don't know how much gasoline has been used in the trip of 180 miles hence we can't calculate the mileage of the car
NOT SUFFICIENT
Statement 2: The cost of the gasoline used by the car for the trip was $1.20 per gallon
We neither have amount of gasoline used in trip nor the distance of the tripe hence
NOT SUFFICIENT
Combining the two statements
Gasoline quantity = 12/1.2 = 10 gallons
Distance = 180 miles
Mileage = 180/10 = 1.8 miles per gallon of gasoline
SUFFICIENT
Answer: Option C
