What is the value of 5^x?

2. x^4=81

Can someone please explain how the answer is A? With stat 1 we get x=1/3 and stat 2 we get x=3. How are we then going with option A?

We are not told that x is positive. So if x^4=81, x can be 3 or -3.

Remember that any non zero integer (positive or negative) raised to an even power will yield only a positive result

So statement 2 is not sufficient
