To Find: Number of Values possible for 'x'
\(A*x + A = B\)
--> \(A*x = B - A\)
--> \(x = \frac{(B - A)}{A}\)
--> \(x = \frac{B}{A} - 1\)

(1) A does not equal 0
We do not know how many values A & B can take
Possible values of \(x\) = {2/1 - 1, 3/2 - 1, 4/1 - 1, . . . . . . .} --> Insufficient

(2) B does not equal 0
We do not know how many values A & B can take
Possible values of \(x\) = {2/1 - 1, 3/2 - 1, 4/1 - 1, . . . . . . .} --> Insufficient

Combining (1) & (2),
--> No Definite number of values --> Insufficient

Option E

How many values of x satisfy this equation? A*x+A=B

(1) A does not equal 0
(2) B does not equal 0

Source: Handbook GMAT Quantitative 2018

You have to be more careful with the questions you put.

Would request you to upload a screenshot of the question. The equation should be A*x+B=B.

\(A*x+B=B.......A*x=0\)
So either A=0, or x=0, or both A and x are 0.

(1) A does not equal 0
So x=0..
Thus only 1 value is possible
Suff

(2) B does not equal 0
So A*x=0...
x can take any values depending on A.
If A=0, x can be anything.
If \(A\neq{0}\), x=0.
Insuff

A

A *x = 0. So if we can get the nature of A, that will be sufficient. Stmnt 1 says A is not 0, so definitely x is 0. Suff
Stmnt 2 doesn't give any further info than the ques stem. Not suf
A is the answer
