Total won games of Team X = 40% of 45 + win after 01st June

Question: Percentage of games won by Team X = ?

Statement 1: Team X won 1/2 of its remaining games this season (after June 1st).

Since we don't know how many total games were played after 01st June therefore the final percentage can NOT be calculated
NOT SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: Team X played 64 games after June 1st.

We don't know how many of these games did team x win hence
NOT SUFFICIENT

Combining the statements

Team x won 40% of 45 games before 1st June and won 50% of 64vgames played after 1st June
i.e. won% = (40% of 45 + 50% of 64)*100/(45+64)

SUFFICIENT

Answer: Option C

before 1st june 40%, and after 1st june 50% then overall 45%...why a alone is not sufficient??

­As of June 1st, Team X had won 40% of the 45 games, and after June 1st, it won 50% of x games. The percentage of all the games the team had won would depend on x and would equal (the total number of games won)/(the total number of games played) * 100. That number would be between 40% and 50%, but the exact value would depend on x. Thus, we cannot take the average of 40% and 50% to get the answer. For example, if x = 45, so if the team played the equal number of games before and after June 1st, then yes, the percentage of all the games the team had won would be (40% + 50%) / 2 = 45%. However, if the team played say 2 games after June 1st, then the percentage of all the games the team had won would be (45 * 40% + 2 * 50%) / (45 + 2) * 100 ≈ 40.43%.­
