I don't remember where I read this, perhaps in a Manhattan book or forum, that keep your Issue discussion professional and too steer clear from controversial topics such as politics and religion.
Now, I am not sure what everyone thinks, but my GMAT exam 3 days ago, had an issue question that is not only extremely political in nature but deals with some very controversial politics that has been one of the foci of Barack Obama's policies (the issue itself was broad, but it was hard not to talk about this as it has been in the news so much).
I am not sure if I am allowed to post the topic of the issue due to the NDA etc. But what do you guys/gals think? Is it ok to bring politics and religion in your issue essays?
In the end, I said screw it and brought in Libya, Egypt, McCarthyism, Stalin..you name it. Waiting to see what my AWA is going to be!!
