Hello! I have been waiting for this thread for a long time. I am currently an engineering student in the UK. Applied for MIT MFin since early November. Just heard back via email 1-2 weeks ago saying that my documents are complete, together with some general information. Didn't get the interview invitation/rejection yet.

What about you?

hello same here i applied and still havent gotten an email regarding the interview, however i have an acceptance from IE also for the masters in finance for which i have to give an answer for by Feb 17th so im hoping the process wont take long so that i can know myself by then.
on a different note how easy is it for an engineer to get a job in the financial sector post masters graduation noting that my prior work experince is also in the engieering field

Hi, just received an invite to interview in person (non-US location). No where in the email was an alternative to interview by telephone/skype.

Does anyone know whether MIT MFin has completely done away with telephone/skype interviews? This comes as a surprise to me as I really wasn't expecting to have to fly somewhere to interview.

Hi nutrisoyboy,

Congrats on your interview invite! May I just ask when you submitted your application?

According to https://mitsloanadmissions.com/ , it says
"All MFin interviews will be conducted in person. In addition to holding MFin interviews here in Cambridge, we will also be meeting applicants for interviews in Shanghai, Paris, and Santiago."

So I guess there will be no skype interviews.

IIRC I applied just 1 or 2 weeks before the deadline closed, in late Dec. Anyway their admissions blog states that 21st is the first day of invites. They will continue sending invites up until 14 Feb.

Submitted my application on Jan 1st, invited to interview on Jan 21st, interviewed on Wednesday Jan 29th in Cambridge. As far as I know, there weren't any options to interview via skype or phone.

Hoping for good news for everyone before Feb 14th and March 10th! Hope to see some of you folks in Cambridge in July as well.

the interview went very smoothly they just asked about my background some experiences from my work such as a time i faced a challenge etc.
why the masters in finance and not an mba and some of the financial courses which i was interested in

overall the interviewer was very nice and ther entire process was smooth

I think it is really hard to say if my interview went well. It was not technical (as expected) and it was a pleasant experience (all the other guys said the same thing). They say that approximately 1/3 will get an offer. They will call us and nobody should expect any early news.

Do you guys know how they choose their applicants in terms of geography? The students from Chinese universities say that MIT takes a certain number of Chinese students and that the Chinese students basically just compete with other Chinese students. Is it the same for Europe?

On the admit list in the quantnet tracker. The only admitted individual in 2014 shows his date as 2/12, which is impossible.
