Hello everyone
I am a hotel management graduate from IHM Mumbai, India with a good academic record both in my college and school. I would to know if I would be an eligible candidate for any MiM program and how strongly would i need to compete for a admission in any of these programs as I think that b-schools might prefer students from other streams above me.
I am still preparing for my GMAT and will give by the the end of this month. I would like to know what would be an ideal Gmat score for me to secure a seat in a good school.

I am not sure whether you want someone to look into your profile and evaluate it or asking for MIM college and their class profile.
There are many factors considered while choosing a Candidate for MIM college, such as Diversity, academics, your score, extra curricular activities, GMAT, Essay and so on stuff.
I will suggest you to share your brief profile in "Master's profile evaluation forum : https://gmatclub.com/forum/mim-profile- ... ml?fl=menu " to get a reality check where you stand and what you are supposed to do to bridge gap in between. Other than that, since you are about to give exam, I am sure you must had done your research on your dream college, so that it will be easy for consultants to guide you, which can your safe school, where you need to work hard and so on.
Coming onto average GMAT scores of college, there is no standard set on GMAT score. All schools have their own average which range from 710 to 550 depends upon where you are heading. So its better to check the average GMAT score of your target schools.

Your question is pretty broad. I do not think MiM schools have a strong preference towards a particular background. They encourage diversity and accept people from all fields and that's what makes the MiM a great course.
Regarding competition and chances, it all depends on how you structure your application and the story you write. Narrating a good story is extremely important for applications. For GMAT, it hugely depends on the school. Some schools don't even require GMAT and many offer waivers. But I would say a good score will be a 680+, but again its subjective to the school. So, first start with deciding which schools to apply (not more than 6-8 schools).
