Hi,
I am an international student from India who did her undergrad in US and was hoping to apply to Northeastern University Masters in Finance program
University - Old Dominion University
Major - Finance and Business Analytics (Honors Student)
GPA - 3.89
Awards - Outstanding Finance Student Award, Bagwell Jones ( highest GPA in Business School) Kaufman Award ( most prestigious award given out for academics and leadership )
My GMAT is 610 but its test-optional, I plan to give it again but it won't be in time for my application deadline
please advice if I have a good chance and whether I should submit my GMAT score.
Thanks,
Saloni
Hey saloni2303,
Your GPA of
3.8 is a big highlight as anything above 3.5 is excellent, and schools appreciate that. The major focus will be on your work experience. Though your international exposure helps the profile to stand out, try
going for more internships, especially in the
finance domain. You must mention certain courses and certifications that you have done. In fact, you can say that you are going to pursue CFA level one in future as the GMAT score you have currently won’t be enough. So I
recommend you retake the GMAT and aim for a 690 or above, as you need to have a bulletproof application.
You can quantify your resume by putting in numbers for your internships courses and everything. I will highly recommend you target a good chunk of 6 to 8 schools, and not just Northeastern University.
If you need more help, we'd be happy to setup a call and give more pointers on how to improve your profile and the right schools you should target.
