Hi,

I am not sure if I could post this topic here, so please let me know if I am making a mistake.

I have a general question about very low GMAT score. Let's say, my first GMAT score is 450 or even lower. And let's say eventually I get 700+. Because of the first very low score, does that mean some of the schools will rule me out regardless of whatever I finally score? For example, should I just give up applying to HBS, Stanford, or any other "top schools" simply because I have 450 on my record?

If you have any insight, that will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your help!

Most schools consider latest/highest score. Try to get your target score (710+) in the next attempt i.e. take the next attempt when you are scoring high scores in practice tests if you want to apply to HBS/Stanford etc. A score of 680 above in GMAT should be decent enough. Try not to go the 450-550-650-700 way since it will frustrate you and too many attempts are not looked upon favorably (though if you consistently improve your performance in each attempt, it's less problematic). If you score well in your next attempt, you wouldn't have to explain your 450 at all.
