Thanks. I was an engineering major in undergrad, so I definitely can demonstrate quant ability on my app. I'm just concerned adcoms will ask why an eng major didn't score higher on quant.

Even though there isn't a compelling reason to retake but personally, I would have gone for a retake. Of course, you need to work on Quant before you retake so that you know that you will be scoring Q50 this time. Your target schools get very competitive applicants. Most of them will leave no stone un-turned and will do everything within their ability. Applying to B schools is expensive and takes a lot of effort. If you feel you did the best you could with GMAT, you obviously should focus on your apps. But I sense that you expected higher and if that is the case, you might want to consider a retake but only after you see considerable improvement in your Quant abilities (say you start hitting Q50/51 in all mocks).

I would talk to an admissions consultant or the admissions department for those schools before you make a final decision. I have heard that Wharton expects above 80% on quant, but that's simply information I've heard from other applicants.

In something as critical as business school applications, be extremely rigorous and leave nothing up to chance...
