Hello experts, I have taken the gmat two times, 520 back in 2010 and 510 just 2 weeks ago (40q and 21v)
Background: I have studied intensely since april (2 hours min week days, and 5 or more on weekends) I have taken private tutoring classes from
mgmat and optimus.
For materials I have used the
mgmat books, gmatprep CAT exam 3 times, and I just bought the question banks for gmat prep.
I have taken the
mgmat online course as well as the knewton online course.
I am very frustrated because nothing seems to work for me. It seems that the more time and money I put into the gmat the worse my performance is on it. I have spent a lot of money and even more time on it and I just can seem to improve.
Can anyone please comment on what approach I should take?
Here is my take on this: Since my second attempt I have started with the
mgmat books again, I started with FDP: 1) I read the book, 2) make notes , 3) do all the problems in the back of the book that refer to the OG---I get close to 70 or 80% correct 4) I make flash cards off ALL the wrong answers and review extensively why I got it wrong-----So far I feel I am doing ok in my gmat studies, I feel that I am learning more etc.... BUT then I go onto gmat club and pull of a FDP question bank and get close to 20% correct. How can it be that I can answer and understand pretty well the questions on the OG on FDP and when I do the ones from gmat prep source or other sources I get very few correct? This is where I star to doubt my approach.
Reading the FDP book + practicing the questions on the OG of FDP + reviewing wrong answer do not equal that I will do ok when I do FDP questions from other sources such as GMATPREP.
And when this happens, I start to doubt on my gmat approach. I don't mind If I need to study one or two months more, I just feel that my approach to gmat has not been the most efficient.
I have tried literally everything, private tutor, manhattan and knewton online course, extensive hours and still I dont see results.
Should I just work on questions from GMAT PREP? or from the gmat prep question banks? I feel that doing more questions from the OG or manhattan or any other source could be a waste of time.
As I said, the frustration is not that I am giving up, its that literally NOTHING is working for me. Im starting to feel that Im just not up for this exam...
Should I just keep doing what I have been doing HOPING that I will do better next time around? finish all the
manhattan books, review notes, review flash card from wrong answers and then start with GMAT prep exams?
