Hi Looser1991,

Your score (330) is below-average (the average GMAT score is right around 540-550 most years), but you haven't provided any information about how you studied, so there's no way to really assess your situation yet. I have a few questions that I'm hoping that you can answer:

1) How long have you been studying?
2) What materials have you used during your studies?
3) How were you scoring on your practice CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?

The GMAT is a predictable, standardized Test, so you CAN train to score at a high level. Thankfully, Business Schools don't care if you take the GMAT more than once, so doing so is not a problem. We have to define how you studied this first time though, so that we can fix it before you retake the GMAT.

I had only two months of preparation, because application deadline is in April. As long as I've never had any problem with math, I thought that it would be easier. One month I spent on courses in MBA strategy school and got their GMAT materials. And second month I spent on Official Guide materials, read Verbal book of Manhattan GMAT and few of their CAT tests, because of full-time job crisis I didn't spend so much time on that. After my fail I understand The problem. Preparation is more important. Now I need a plan. Thank you for your reply

Hi Looser1991,

Most Test Takers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they take the GMAT. During that time, it's common to spend 10-15 hours per week (or more) on the process. So training to face the GMAT is a big task, but it can be broken down into small pieces.

It's understandable why you tried to do everything so quickly (Test Takers often try to rush to make an application deadline), but you've come to learn how much more work you actually have to do. Thankfully, you've now faced the GMAT, so you can use that knowledge/experience to better prepare yourself for your next attempt.

What is your goal score?
Are you considering applying this coming Fall?

Hi jyoj,

How have you scored on each of your practice CATs? If you're not close to 650 right now, then you're probably not going to "luck" your way into a 650 in 2 weeks. As such, you might need to push back your Test Date. While I'm sure that you don't *want* to do that, if your goal is to get a 650, then you need more time to prepare.

What materials have you been using during your studies?
When you take your CATs, do you take the ENTIRE CAT (including the Essay and IR sections)?

Hi Looser1991

I would agree with Karishma - start by improving on your basics. For example, you may want to get a good book to cover the math basics. You'll find that they are the foundations to all other Quant problems. Also, this could help build your confidence level so that you're not as intimidated by the math section!

There are a lot of threads here that provide great tips on how to build a study plan. Here's one: gmat-study-plan-how-to-start-your-gmat-prep-80727.html.

Keep us posted.

Hi Looser1991 ! May be it's better to trie to pass OG CAT, which is free for every registered on GMAT exam person? It will give you one more score, may be it will be much better. Moreover, you will have an opportunity to check your incorrect answers and you can discuss them with us.
