Thanks for the suggestions. My preferred and my only choice for the course would be Sales and marketing. Although i am working as a technology person in IT, recently my interest has been diverting to marketing. I have been for the past six months assisting my friend in his green tea business. My friend is located in a rural area where he grows tea and sells it to the manufacturer. But recently he opened a factory to manufacture green tea. I am currently staying in a metropolitan city where he is planning to grow his business, and out of just self interest and no profit, i have been speaking to possible clients and trying to sell his product. This experience has given me a lot to learn with every failure and little success, but i want to enhance my knowledge and would like to try my hand at sales and marketing with proper knowledge. My short term goal is to learn as much as i can about this field from different industries and apply that knowledge to open my own business. Now sales and marketing also matches my long term goal, which has been in my mind for a very long time. It's just that i was taking the wrong path to achieve it. I come from a place where tourism is the main source of income for many people, but i have seen many resources that are not being utilized to its maximum potential, because the people either lack the knowledge of how to sell it or they are too scared to enter a business that hasn't been tried before. Agriculture and infrastructure are some prime examples. So to say, my long term goal is to apply my knowledge to open businesses in my place to utilize these resources. In turn, i would like to throw some light on the possibilities of different businesses, and hope that others follow.

Hi Hi sunit_sushil,

Since you've provided a really specific answer to what you want out of your career (and by extension, your MBA), you might want to try speaking with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. There's a Forum full of them here:

Hi Sunit,

I have gone through your detailed query and just want to post some news for you.
Suggest you to re-take you GMAT and get at least 700 and above, only then you can target for really B-Schools.

Good to hear that you want to do MBA in Marketing.
ESADE (Europe), IE (Europe), IMD (Europe) schools you can consider for Marketing. And US is the big market, you have to consultant to the B-Schools alumnus and short-list the schools depending on your profile.

Let me know if you wants to connect with any of the top B-Schools alumnus.

BR,
Shoaib

I'm an IT professional with 5+ years. I recently attempted the GMAT exams and could only score 610 with score of 40 in Quant and 34 in Verbal. Could someone help with the list of colleges that i can apply for in either Europe or the US.

Being an Indian and once a technical student myself, I know the potential of Indian IT graduates in Quant so here I can strongly say that you seem to have bright chances of improving your score in Quant from 40 to 47 (on the safe side)

Your score of 34 in Verbal is already decent however if you could push it to th elevel of around 38 (which is not veryyy difficult) then you will end up getting a score Q-47, V-38 Total - 690 which can get you much better schools that you may not get in list at the moment.

I suggest that you should reconsider taking GMAT again and improve your chances in many better universities.

all the best!!!
