Hey all,
I just received my official score report from my first GMAT. I scored a little lower than I expected with a Q47/V40, 700 overall. However, I scored better than I expected on my AWA (6) and IR (8). Would you all recommend that I retake in an attempt to score an additional 20 points or so, with the chance that the AWA and IR will decrease? Or is it time to move on and start preparing my applications with what I've got?
The rest of my application will be strong (transitioning military officer, great experience, letters of recommendation, etc), just looking for advice on the GMAT. Currently targeting Tuck, Fuqua, and Darden.

Hi thisisboz,
First off, a 700/Q47 is an outstanding score (it's right around the 90th percentile overall), so you should apply to any Schools that interest you. As such, a retest might not be necessary. You're ultimately asking Admissions questions, so you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. There's a Forum full of them here:

A decrease of a point (or even 2-3 in IR) won't affect your chances but the fact is that an increase of 20 points in your 700 score won't make any difference either. With a 700, you are as poised to get into a great school as you are with a 720. Your application is what will make the difference now.
