Hi Forum,
Today I appeared for GMAT Prep 6 and scored Q49 in Quants. I did only 3 mistakes at Q Nos. 21, 28 and 31. Previously I did take Preps 1,2 & 5 where I did score same Q49 in Quants. But the no:of mistakes was around 9,10 & 8 respectively. So, I am concerned how today in spite of making only 3 non-consecutive errors, my Quant score did not improve. Neither did my Quant percentile. It is 75 percentile in all 4 tests. Can you share some light if this is an expected scenario.

I’m glad you reached out, and I’m happy to help. Your GMAT score is based on not only the number of questions you answer correct/incorrect, but also the difficulty of those questions, among other things. So, there are a variety of possible reasons why your score has not improved from Q49.
Rather than spending time worrying about the GMAC algorithm, you really should focus on the things you can control, and the number one thing you can control is getting better at the GMAT. If you get to a point at which you can dominate the GMAT, the specifics of the scoring algorithm won't matter because you will to have the skills that you need to get an amazing score, right?
With that said, when is your GMAT and what is your GMAT score goal?

I hope you know that it is an adaptive test and tough to understand GMAC algorithm. The score depends not only on the number of corrected questions but also become on the accuracy of question level. It is better to focus on your weak area/making mistakes area rather than worrying on Prep score.
