Gusty westerly winds will continue
to usher in a seasonably cool air mass into the region, as a broad area of high pressure will build and bring fair and dry weather for several days.
(A) to usher in a seasonably cool air mass into the region, as a broad area of high pressure will build and
(B) ushering in a seasonably cool air mass into the region and a broad area of high pressure will build that
(C) to usher in a seasonably cool air mass to the region, a broad area of high pressure building, and
(D) ushering a seasonably cool air mass in the region, with a broad area of high pressure building and
(E) to usher a seasonably cool air mass into the region while a broad area of high pressure builds, which will
Hi team,
I was able to get to the right answer but I feel like I
need more insight (definite reasons) to eliminate options in this question. my thinking process as follows:
Meaning: X ( continue to usher in a seasonably cool air mass into the region)-----will cause--> Y (bring fair and dry weather for several days)(A) to usher in a seasonably cool air mass into the region, as a broad area of high pressure will build and
(saying Y (as a broad area of high pressure will build and ) causes X (continue to usher in a seasonably cool air mass into the region) (B) ushering in a seasonably cool air mass into the region and a broad area of high pressure will build that
("a broad area" doesn't agree with "bring" that follows) (C) to usher in a seasonably cool air mass to the region, a broad area of high pressure building, and
( "building and bring" not parallel )(D) ushering a seasonably cool air mass in the region, with a broad area of high pressure building and
( "building and bring" not parallel )(E) to usher a seasonably cool air mass into the region while a broad area of high pressure builds,
which will
( I think "which" modifies the entire sentence preceding it (which it shouldn't); if not then it is ambiguous but I had not options left)Although the explanation OG and GMATclub uses redundancy ("usher in" and "into") to eliminate options A and B, I think this reason was very subtle or hard to spot.
Thank You,
Dablu
