Dear GMAT Experts,

I did a mockup exam and I got Q48 on Math part.
I had 4 mistakes only...

In a previous attempt, I got Q49 and more mistakes... even mistakes came from the first 10 questions... how is this possible?

Can you elaborate which exam you took? No exam give accurate score prediction.
Also score will be affected if you make mistake on easy level questions.
GMAT penalize more in incorrect answer on easy level.there are also 3 experimental questions out of 31 incase if you are not aware.
I would suggest you to analyse your mistakes and don't worry about +-2 point on mocks.

Hi Pmista

I hope you have heard the term "Computer adptive Test" for GMAT. Adaptiveness decides the loss of score due to placement of the wrong ones. There is a possibility that the mistakes tha tyou made were places in beginning of section leading to a low overall score for even lesser number of mistakes.

Read a little about the computer adaptiveness of exam and you will answer for the surprise you have got., :)

Thank you, it was the exam number 4 from the pack of 3&4 on mba.com
I am aware that the first questions have more impact...
my mistakes are 13-15-28-30... and it is easy ones ...
It seems I cannot consistently get Q50 or Q51 on gmat preps.

Hi Pmista,

I’m glad you reached out, and I’m happy to help. To reiterate, your GMAT score is based on not only the number of questions you answer correct/incorrect, but also the difficulty of those questions, among other things. So, when you scored Q48, you likely got a few lower level questions wrong. In any case, Q48 and Q49 are some great practice test scores, so nice work! Also, if you want any advice on how to improve your GMAT quant skills, feel free to reach out.
