Hello GMAT Club,
You can see from my post
here that I have been on this journey for quite some time, and I am looking to close this chapter of my life with at least a 655 score. I started preparing for the Focus version in January 2024 after having begun preparation for the old version in June 2023 (which I obviously stopped after switching to Focus).
The main lesson I will take from all this prep (since I am not finished yet) is that focused efficiency is the most important thing. This means you need to actually work hard (put in the hours) and work smart (have the correct approach to your preparation).
I say this because I started tracking how many actual hours I put in, and it was about 10 hours a week (some weeks even less), even though my goal was to reach at least 15-20 hours. But I digress.
My Mocks have gone like this:
GMAT Focus Mock 2 (03/30/24): 585 (Q75/V81/DI79)
GMAT Focus Mock 3 (04/20/24): 585 (Q79/V82/DI76)
GMAT Focus Mock 5 (08/19/24): 585 (Q79/V83/DI75)
GMAT Focus Mock 6 (09/01/24): 635 (Q84/V83/DI77)
As you can see, there are large gaps between the Mocks. This is because I kept thinking I just needed to study more before attempting another one. I have been dreading doing Mocks, and being consistent with a full-time job has been challenging for me.
However, I started to see progress with the last Mock. The reason I scored higher, I believe, is that I started to eliminate careless mistakes. In Mock 5, I made about 4 careless mistakes in Quant and 5 in DI. Comparing that to Mock 6, I made only 1 careless mistake in Quant and 3 in DI. Of course, luck played a role with 2 or 3 questions that I guessed correctly.
Now, getting to the point:
My goal is to get Q84/V85/DI80, and I am looking for guidance on how to achieve this.
Any tips would honestly help, and I am open to tutoring (though the market price stings a bit. If there is a possibility of making it work with just a few hours, that would be amazing).
