Hello, I am in immense dilemma of taking the right decision between career (existing job) and GMAT for future career. I was promoted to a Project Head 6 months back for Operations of a new assignment. If anyone was following my prep updates - i was doing miserable with my GMAT prep - reason obvious, I could not focus on both together. A project head role was as demanding as I thought, I was positive to be able to cope up with both. I was wrong, its a pre opening project, work is different and more brain taxing than operational projects. I decided on a job change, an operational project, at a step (position) down but additional job responsibilities (why??? so I can move up real quick in a years time), to be able to correctly balance my work and studies. But here is the catch, I again got a mind blowing pre opening project head offer from another company. It is lucrative (role, profile,position so its not only pay/perks etc) and thus making me think again is my move to step down a position (only took over for 6 months) CORRECT!But yes, I neither brand would be a compromise....
Will this impact my application negatively? But most importantly, I know I can justify this move of mine strongly, but my question is "am I taking the right decision".............With so many years hard work/experience, this position means as much to me as GMAT. Will this be too much of a concern in my application?

Hello sdas, thanks for your question.
I have to admit, I do not specialize in career advice, but I will offer my opinion.
You’ve mentioned the GMAT, but not once business school or your future career path should you take the test. To me, this seems like a broad, abstract goal of yours. On the other hand, it seems like you are excited about this new opportunity, which is real and specific. It seems like your hard work has paid off.
Because you frame the options as a promotion at another company that you’re excited about versus just taking the GMAT (which is just a test, I have no idea what you would do with the GMAT), it seems like you might pursue the opportunity and take the GMAT later on in your career, should you ever see a specific need to.
Just my two cents. Hope it’s helpful!

Hello Brian, thanks for your 2 cents (as you say), it is valuable indeed. My idea of taking GMAT, is to apply the following B Schools - Richard Ivey, Cornell, Chicago, Ross and lastly HBS. I write HBS last - cos I know my undergrad was terrible. But, thats my target school. Why I want B School - I am looking for a career shift (kind of transition you can say). I am a hospitality specialist currently (operational & pre operational deluxe projects) - but I aim to be a project consultant (could be related to my current field but not restricted). As much as I am excited about the current options I have, I know weekend studies will not help me much (cos I did so for past 6 months) - resulting in frustrations. I am indecisive but I know both are important for me. Thus, i need your advice again, hope I have provided enough info for you now....do let me know!
