Hey!
Would it be wise to address multiple topics in the optional essay? I/m thinking of addressing the following topics:
1. Choice of recommenders since I come from a family business background.
2. My family business and what it is into - Since we have multiple entities and no umbrella company.
3. I have done my masters in commerce which is a full time course but was working at the same time since the University permitted us to. Would it be wise to explain that or brand my post graduate degree as a distance learning course? If distance learning course should I write distance learning in the resume?

Hi, and thanks for writing! Yes, it is possible to address multiple topics in the OE - you can simply number each separate paragraph as 1,2,3.
All of the topics make sense to address briefly - for the course, mention that it was a distance learning course, but do mention why you still want to enter an MBA program after having taken that course.

Hi,
I also have a concern regarding the optional essay. Should one use it to address multiple issues or just focus on a single one?
1) I have 8 month gap after my graduation to finding my first job. (Should I address this issue. During this time I did some Volunteer work at an orphanage and also worked at my fathers Construction firm where I highlighted few areas of improvement.)
2) My GMAT(650) and GPA (3.05) which are slightly below my target schools but within the 80% range. (I was thinking of just addressing this matters to demonstrate strong quantitative aptitude regardless of the my GPA and GMAT score. My Quant score on GMAT was Q48 and I have scored all B/B+ grades in Calculus/Quantitative courses that I took during my engineering. I also scored A grades in my O & A level Math & Additional Math exams. )

Hi there! It looks like your question never got answered. You can use the optional essay to address multiple issues, you can have separate sections with headers, or to try weave them together to one paragraph. I would definitely explain the gap - sounds like you handled it well. I think that it is worth highlighting your quant skills too.
