MBA InfoWhy I want an MBA: I've been working in the healthcare industry for about 3.5 years now and see myself in the industry throughout my career. I want to use an MBA to transition into a healthcare investment banking role to help me join a corporate development & strategy team at a healthcare company in the future. My three preferred schools (Ross, Fuqua, Kenan-Flagler) all have a healthcare concentration that I would combine with finance courses, helping to tie my story together and play to those school's strengths.
Round 1 Reach Schools: Michigan Ross, Duke Fuqua
Round 1 Target Schools: UNC Kenan-Flagler, Cornell Johnson
Round 2 Target Schools (If needed): CMU Tepper, Georgetown McDonough
BackgroundWork experience: At the time of application I'll have about 3.5 years of experience at a F100 life sciences company on the finance team. While here I've received two promotions, one early promotion after one year and I was promoted to senior financial analyst back in January. I've had the opportunity to work on some fairly large projects including some being used in c-suite meetings, assisting in negotiations with our 2nd largest customer, leading the creation of new processes for our division, generated about $50k in profit for the company my first year, and helped train/mentor new analysts as we expanded the team.
Extra curriculars and other experience: Nothing super crazy here. Big brother/big sister, volunteered at a mental health clinic, and ran in a couple charity 5k's.
Undergrad school/major: I started college at community college where I left with a 3.72 GPA. After transferring to university I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.93 GPA as a finance major. I had all A's in business courses and one A- in an economics course. Starting at community college I had a poor GPA (3.1 in the first two semesters) and then there was a strong upwards trajectory carrying into university once I got my footing and learned what I wanted to do.
StatsGMAT Score: 720
Undergrad GPA: 3.72 at community college and 3.93 at university.
