Hey, I'm a holder of a 3-year business undergraduate degree from India. I'm graduating this year, and have no work experience. I have a ton of extra-curricular activities (won a few national business competitions, held leadership roles in multiple university clubs, and have co-founded a club). My G.P.A is a tad low - about 3.4/4 and my GMAT score is 720.
I'll be enrolling at London Business School for the MFA (Masters in Financial Analysis) program this year.
Short-term/Post MSc goal: To break into M&A at a BB/EB in India or the UK after the Masters.
Long-term goal: To use my M&A experience to move into private equity
Questions:
1) I'm probably going to apply to a deferred MBA program while at LBS to make the switch to private equity later in my career. Given my low undergrad G.P.A, do I have a shot at places like HBS, GSB, CBS, Wharton etc.?
2) What should I work on to improve my deferred MBA application next year?

Congratulations on the LBS MFA acceptance.
First let me say that the deferred programs can be super selective. So I would definitely give them a shot, but if you're not successful, don't rule out applying further down the road. That aside, I would work on improving your academic stats. You can't change the undergrad GPA, but you can try to make sure you do well in the LBS program, so that will of course be a priority. I would also retake your GMAT and try to get that up to at least 740 and ideally higher if you want to target those top programs like HBS/GSB.
The other gap I would try to address is not having work experience. I realize that is the point of deferred programs, but most deferred admits I've seen have had some strong internship/part-time experience. So I would be looking for ways to supplement your coursework with some practical work, which could be through classes that are more project-based/hands-on, or using the school connections to arrange a mini internship during the program.
Those are the main things I would focus on -- hope that helps!
