Your profile has genuine substance, and the two years of runway mean the decisions you make now will actually matter, so let us get specific about where the real work is.
• The 695 on the Focus Edition sits below the median range for your target schools, where admitted student medians tend to cluster in the 675 to 695 range; you are at the floor, not comfortably inside it, and a single strong retake targeting 720-plus would move you from "flagged for score review" to "score cleared, move on." The verbal gap is less alarming than the composite sitting at the low end.
• Your Deloitte transfer-pricing and IP valuation work is a genuine differentiator in the life-sciences consulting pool, because most applicants in this category have advisory experience but few have touched C-suite capital-allocation decisions directly; lean into the M&A diligence and APA work heavily in your essays.
• The pivot story is your biggest essay risk right now, not your score. "I want to go into healthcare strategy" describes a destination; adcoms will want the mechanism: what specific gap does the MBA close that your current role cannot, and why this decade, not earlier or later?
• The Meadow Clinic role is your most strategic extracurricular, especially for Booth and Kellogg, where community impact narratives carry real weight; deepening that engagement over the next two years (moving from advisory to a measurable outcome, a partnership closed, a patient-reach number) will strengthen the story considerably.
The foundation here is strong, and two years gives you real room to sharpen both the score and the narrative before any deadline pressure arrives.

Hi! I wanted to ask advice on how my application looks for applying to M-7’s. I would be applying in the fall of 2028 (so I would start 2029) which is a little far out so I still have some time.I am a US citizen and a female, also a member of the LGBTQIA+ group. My GPA from college was pretty high a little above a 3.92/4.0 and I graduated from American University.
I have taken the GMAT four times and was able to score a 695 (Quant (88) and Data Insights (84) were nearly perfect Verbal (81) was 66th percentile...). My job is pretty demanding so I could try and study again but wanted to get experts opinions first.Currently I work for a Deloitte on the economic and financial consulting side, I am a consultant II now as I have recently been promoted. I will likely stay at my role up until heading back to school or switch to a healthcare or life sciences firm as that is what I want to use MBA school to pivot into. Here is a brief description of my role:
• Supported multi-billion-dollar tax controversy engagements for Fortune 500 managed care organizations, aligning legal, finance, and business leadership on risk mitigation and presenting findings to senior stakeholders
• Drove IP migration and M&A diligence for multinational life sciences clients, converting financial statements into IP valuations and profit-split models used by C-suite leadership to evaluate capital allocation and inorganic growth opportunities
• Built cross-border pricing analysis and financial models for a top-10 global pharmaceutical company's Advanced Pricing Agreement, directly informing C-suite decisions on intercompany strategy and long-term value creation
• Developed market-entry strategies and competitive landscape analyses for life sciences clients, synthesizing industry trends, customer dynamics, and the regulatory environment to support expansion into new markets Additionally, I have been doing a lot of firm initiatives at work (being on the women’s committee and the tax transition lab) and I volunteer with a boutique women’s health clinic. I am also looking to start volunteering with a hospital. Deloitte Tax Executive Transition Lab:
Nominated by senior leadership to facilitate Deloitte’s Tax Executive Transition Lab, advising Fortune 500 C-suite executives on leadership strategy, stakeholder alignment, and organizational priorities across 15 client engagements. Gained direct exposure to executive decision-making across Fortune 500 clients in healthcare, financial services, and technology, translating C-suite priorities into structured transition frameworks used across the firmWomen's Committee: Spearhead initiative design and pilot testing for a 300+ member professional community, leading sprint teams to develop and scale innovative programs — delivering findings and recommendations to senior Deloitte leadership. Partner with Deloitte’s national Women & Allies network to share best practices, coordinate cross-office programming, and track engagement metrics to measure initiative impact and inform future strategy.
Meadow Health Clinic: Advise Meadow Reproductive Health on business development strategy, identifying partnership and outreach opportunities and developing go-to-market plans to expand patient access and market presence across the DC-Virginia healthcare market. Create and manage social media content and strategy to increase community awareness and patient engagement, driving measurable growth in digital outreach for a healthcare provider serving the DC/VA area.
My why MBA is to be able to pivot into the healthcare and life sciences sector, either healthcare administration or business development and strategy for a big life science company. The schools I am interested in are Booth, Harvard, Kellogg, Sloan, and Wharton.I wanted to ask a few questions:What are your thoughts on my GMAT score, is it ok that verbal is a little lower?
Is my application overall competitive enough to get me into a M-7?
Since I have some time what should I be doing to solidify my application?
I am happy to answer any other questions as well!
