Darden:
+ Not as recognized as Yale
+ Strong focus on case-base
+ similar class size as Yale
+ Full-tuition Scholarship
+ Alumni Network bigger than Yale SOM
- IB recruitment ( this is my first impression from stats on websites - data requested from career centers)
- difficult to network at NY/Boston, might be at a disadvantage being international (my perception - please correct me if I am wrong)
- Buy-side network for long-term absent

I would take a full-ride from Darden even if you got into Tuck. I assume "Not as recognized as Yale" means in India, and among non-MBA circles. Yeah, it's fun to drop the Y-bomb out there, but anyone who knows B-schools knows Darden is just as good as Yale, if not better. I don't think it's worth over $100K just to be able to say "Yale" at cocktail parties. Honestly, it doesn't matter if the scholarship is named or not - you can put that on your resume. Recruiters are going to take notice that you got a full-ride to a top 15 school.

Congrats!

I pretty much agree with this. I wouldn't take Yale over a full scholarship from Darden. If you get into Tuck, it would be a tougher decision, but I'd still go with Darden.

Edit: having said that, if money means absolutely nothing to you, then go to the one that you like best (sounds like Yale). But for most people, a full tuition scholarship is too much incentive to ignore in order to pick a peer school that is offering you nothing.

If you get into then I would choose Tuck over both Yale and Darden. As it stands it's probably Darden for me. Did you receive a "named" scholarship because that in itself could be the tie-breaker between the schools. It is a pretty darn good thing to have on your resume if you received a named scholarship. As for difficulty being an international student, you will probably face the same problems whether you are at Yale or Darden. Ok it would be easier to network in NY from Yale but I don't think it's enough to pick Yale over a full scholarship at Darden.

Thanks Domotron for your inputs. My confusion regarding Yale arises because I think Yale with the new dean and building will be able to attract more employers and might provide a better chance to interact with a variety of employers. I am not sure about Darden Alumni network in Finance (particularly iBanking job and buy-side) I am trying to connect with former and current students at Darden to get a feel of the alumni network.
I have not received a named scholarship at Darden.

1. Don't include Tuck in this equation right now. You don't know if that WL will turn into an admit yet, and you don't want to put all your eggs in a basket that at this point has a gaping hole in it.

2. Look into who recruits on-campus for IBD. Yale gets all the big banks plus a number of boutique shops; I don't know what Darden has so I can't offer anything there. Reach out to the Finance Clubs to get connected with current students who interned where you think you'd like to work or are in the recruiting process now. Get a sense of what the process is like, what students like/dislike, what the interaction with alumni is, etc

3. Attend the admitted student weekends for both and see where you will be a better fit. Darden and Yale are very different schools environment/location-wise. You'll get a great job from either, but you might find you prefer the mid-Atlantic to New England or that you prefer a diverse lecture style to almost all case-based presentations.

4. While most would say to use the money as a deciding factor, a full-ride is a LOT to consider. If you find yourself drawn to SOM after visiting, see what they can do to match the scholarship.

I agree with Aerien. Visit first, then make the decision. If money is the driving factor, go with Darden. If employers are - compare the recent lists. (I will say SOM has a long tail in terms of the breadth of employers we bring to campus.) But the visit is going to determine where you'll thrive, and where you'll see yourself becoming the leader you want to be. If that's Darden, awesome! If that's SOM, great! Welcome to the family! If it's SOM, but money is a big priority for you, then you have the tough decision to make.

Good luck! Remember that this is a spectacular problem to have.
