Foster no scholarship with Rice 2/3, how to choose?

hi, all,

I am an international applicant without any WE in high tech or energy or marketing, got two results so far. Foster without any penny and Rice with 2/3 scholarship, for someone who wanted to enter marketing or consulting, both schools seemed not the best choice.

How to choose? If I would like to go to companies such as Amazon after study, I should definitively go to Foster? or may I also consider of reappling?

Congratulations on getting admits from Foster and Rice. Looking at your post-mba goals, both schools have similar employment stats for candidates getting into Consulting post-mba. But if you want a career in marketing, Foster has high percentage of students getting into marketing. The scholarship at Rice is difficult to overlook. I would suggest you to take the scholarship and go to Rice.

Stern is a significantly better ranked school than Foster and Rice. However the consideration is the highest cost of attendance at Stern. Living in NYC is going to be pretty expensive. I actually disagree about disregarding Foster. Even though you are not getting any $$$, there has to be serious benefits to having Amazon HQ nearby. Try and dig deeper into the employment stats to see how many people Foster places into Amazon. (I have family around Seattle and there are a whole bunch of companies like Microsoft & Amazon who are hiring like crazy from what I hear).

If you get into stern, go there. It's 2 tiers above foster and rice.

If you go to Rice, I would say you should really want to live in Houston. It seems very regional. In Houston I hear that Rice is very very well regarded, but outside it's not.

Stern over Rice unless you want to work in Energy or live in Houston.

Have you thought about playing the all things equal, I would love to come to Foster but have received significant aid from Rice....and see where that gets you?

My friend went to Foster and he said it's the target school for amazon. If you want tech sector and like amazon then Foster. If not then rice is great.....
