Hello, I'm a prospective MBA student admitted to McCombs School of Business and Krannert School of Management. Also, I just finished interview for USC Marshall School of Business in 3rd round. Currently I have 3 issues that I hope to discuss in this forum.
1. Is Purdue Krannert MBA program prospective enough?
I heard that Purdue Krannert School of Management has great potential with its STEM program. Purdue has great engineering program, and I wonder how the school's advantage can influence MBA program's potential growth. Also, I heard that Purdue MBA will open part-time MBA in Chicago regarding stem cell research and it is highly related to bio-tech start-ups. Do you think Krannert School of Business could transform itself to a top-ranked MBA program in the near future?
2. In perspective of Entrepreneurship, which school do you think is more prospective? Marshall or McCombs?
Both school have great entrepreneurship program and regional advantage. USC Marshall provides great opportunities to experience internships and competitions, and to relate network resources with its renowned Lloyd Grief Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. McCombs has Herb Kelleher Center for Entrepreneurship along with great support from UT Austin's Jon Brumley Texas Venture Labs. And Austin is a city with booming venture start-ups.
3. Why Marshall School of Business has relatively low reputation among top-20 tier schools?
US news MBA ranking shows that USC Marshall School of Business ranked at 24th place. However, it is one of the most renowned schools in California and a lot of students really loves the school. Furthermore, it was curious to find out that even though the school ranked 9th among undergraduate B-schools and 2nd in area of entrepreneurship, it ranked only 24th among graduate schools and 9th in entrepreneurial area. Why Marshall MBA program's reputation is lowly assessed in comparison with schools such as CMU Tepper, UT Austin McCombs, and UNC Kenan-Flagler?
