Hi all,
I have been accepted into two business school programs ranked in the 20-30 range and wait listed from 3 others in the 5-15 range. I have to pay my deposit on one of the offers shortly, but my question is, is it common to accept an offer from a school and then withdraw in a month or two if I were to be accepted from one of the wait listed schools? Is the only thing I have to lose the initial deposit or is there some binding obligation to attend the school if I formally accept their offer?
Any insight on this would be helpful

You should definitely read the terms and conditions of the acceptance offer.
However, a requirement to matriculate or reject other offers is usually furnished only for the early decision dates and in most cases you are free to lose your deposit if you get accepted to a better school. That's the consolation prize the school will receive for you trading them up....

If you apply in the early Action round, so you need to review terms and condition clearly. I will give you two clear example. The first from CBS which require to sign a statement of commentiment. However, it states in the following rounds, there is not statement. Some schools as I think call it binding decision. please follow the link

UNC has also early decision action but non binding. Although it is not written in the webpage. I emailed them and they confirmed that If I withdraw from this round after paying the deposit, i won't get refunded. Even if I reject the offer, there is no liability on you.

All the above for early action, I think for following rounds there is no problem. However, you need to check your school page or direct your question to the admission office for conformation if you are in doubt.
