Thanks guys,

Yes I have offers of admission and have to choose between the schools. I currently work in the US and I am not opposed to working here but I also want to continue to work globally and for globally minded companies. Longer term I want to be back in Asia. I have the right to work in EU, Australia, Hong Kong and can easily get a visa in the US through my Australian passport.

I'm not so concerned about where I will work immediately post graduation, but more with which school has either the reputation or Alumni network that will help facilitate international moves throughout my career.

VeritasPrepDozie what leads you to say that LBS has a stronger reputation than Kellogg? Rankings wise Kellogg is consistently top 5 and it is an M7 school and has certainly been around a lot longer than LBS. I know it has a name in Europe but my fear is it isn't that well known beyond Europe.

Thanks again guys!

It really depends what rankings youre looking at. Kellogg is a top 5 school in US perhaps, but globally, LBS ranks above it. In QS Rankings, LBS is no.1, in FT its 3rd, etc. If youre talking about Asia then all three are about the sameish and in AU, LBS is definitely above Kellogg - I'd say most people I know in Sydney knows LBS moreso than Kellogg - which last I searched had like maybe 200 alumni in Australia? (though they know about Booth, the other rival school in Chicago). Compared to LBS which has 600+. You may say, oh that means Kellogg is more exclusive and special - not really if people have heard of it, but dont really think too much of it. NW Uni, or Kellogg, doesnt have a huge brandname like Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Columbia...hell even NYU would get you a better brandname recognition than Kellogg in Sydney.

Depends where you want to go. LBS doesnt have much of a brand in USA, but to summarise:

USA -> Tuck or Kellogg (Consulting focus vs Not sure what you want yet, but open to consulting or industry, but not really banking)
EU -> LBS>Kellogg>Tuck
Asia -> Tuck = Kellogg = LBS
Australia -> LBS>Kellogg>Tuck

And to break it down further, move the school up/down a rank depending on what you want to specialise in (schools known to have a heavy focus recruiting in certain industry - its not to say you wont be able to recruit in others, its just that you become the minority so there might not be as much support): LBS = Banking, Tuck = consulting, Kellogg = Consulting mainly, but does alright in industry as well.

Business schools at the end of the day doesnt matter 10 yrs on in your resume. People will look at what you did and what position you held, than what school you went to. So...your school really only matters on your first and MAYBE your second job, and thats it. SO where you want to be in the next 5 years will dictate which school you want to go.

Thanks for clarifying. I mistakenly focused my assumption on an interest in working in Europe. Overall I would say Kellogg has a better reputation if you are not focused exclusively on working in Europe. Also given your desire to really work with a global firm not necessarily exclusively working internationally I think Kellogg would be my choice. Kellogg also has many international programs like GIM, Global Lab, study abroad that really helps strengthen your global network in select markets so you can start building the foundation abroad while still leveraging the schools strengths domestically

I can connect you to someone who in a similar situation chose Kellogg over LBS and now works in MBB in London, DM me if you are interested.

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has any views on Kellogg vs Tuck vs LBS from an international perspective? I'm an international student and looking to switch from finance into consulting/general management. I am location agnostic but continue to want to work internationally (I've already lived in 5 countries), longer term I want to return to Asia but medium term I'll go wherever the right job is. Does anyone have opinions on the alumni network and reputation of these schools on a global basis not just in he US?

As I see it:

Kellogg better international reputation than Tuck

LBS more well known outside of the US but not so well known in the US

Tuck has the strongest Alumni network in terms of loyalty and willingness to help - but are there enough alumni internationally?

LBS has the most international student base but is playing catch up on alumni loyalty and brand recognition

All 3 schools do well for consulting and Tuck an Kellogg perhaps have the edge for General Management.

Thanks guys!

For MBB it is really between Tuck and Kellogg. If you are interested in Europe, particularly London, Tuck would be your best bet. For instance there are more Tuckies over the last two years going to McKinsey London than any other business school including LBS. Additionally, internationally speaking, we have people from the class of 2016 going to MBB in Nigeria, China, Brazil, the UK, Spain, Australia, Singapore, etc. In all Tuck sends 20-25% of each class to MBB. Everyone who was interested received interviews from at least two, but many all three of MBB.

LinkedIn search shows that Tuck has placed 4 people in McKinsey London in 2014 and 2015, granted that data is not super reliable, but similar search for LBS shows 14 people in just 2015.
Can you tell me what your sources tell? I want to understand how reliable linkedin is.

I gathered the data for some other schools as well, again this is not refined, so use it to fuel your doubts and perform some research. Also, I want to note that this has more to do with goals that students have rather than their opportunities (and don't forget about different class sizes).

I was referring to class of 2015 and those going full-time for 2016. My sources are I go to school with them :) LinkedIn is indeed not that reliable on such things.
