Background: I've been a product manager in fintech in NYC since I graduated. It's now or never if I want to switch careers.. so I'm going for it. Got into Anderson with a $100k fellowship, and also got into HBS (no aid).
I want to end up in entertainment, preferably in film or TV production. No experience, but I'm committed. Short-term (internships/first few years post-grad) I'd like to work at a place like Netflix or Amazon Video to start interacting with the creative guys while learning more about digital distribution. Long-term, I may start my own production company.
I'm very much pulled towards Anderson with the LA location, the entertainment management MBA specialization, the ability to take classes from the UCLA Producer's Program, and the fact that I think I fit in more there. But there's no denying the HBS brand, and they do also have connections to entertainment -- they've got a world-famous professor there and every celebrity goes through her HBS executive program for entertainment management.

Entertainment is really really hard to break into. It is heavily network based and usually a UCLA MBA is not what gets you in. Sorry.
As you may know, most ex c offices are actually based in New York - Netflix, HBO, and many others are there.
I think you have 4 choices:
1. Move to LA and try to recruit in entertainment
2. Recruit in New York
3. Go to Anderson
4. Go to HBS
Out of 4, 2 and 4 best. Then 3 and least interesting is 1.
I think you will have a lot more people reply and answer your cold calls with an HBS degree but it will cost ya. If all it took to break intonenment was to get a UCLA MBA, it would be ranked a lot higher.
