Hi Guys
International student here. Was admitted into Cornell Johnson (40k forte scholarship) and UVA Darden (no scholarship).
My post-MBA goal is consulting, hopefully in US but I'm fine with working in my home country (Asia) as well. I've thought long and hard about the pros and cons of each school but find myself flip-flopping every couple of days for the past couple of weeks. Here are some of the considerations I made.
1) Fit: I enjoyed speaking with students from both schools and I think I will fit well in both environments
2) Location: Not much of a difference to me as both are in rural areas
3) Reputation: Darden seems to enjoy a better reputation in the US compared to Johnson. However, internationally, Cornell university is more well known.
4) Career opportunities: Johnson seems weaker than Darden in consulting. If consulting doesn't work out at Darden, it would seem like there are still other opportunities available.
5) Teaching methods: I feel like I will learn and grow more from the case method at Darden.
6) Scholarship: Do you think $40k is significant enough to sway the vote to Johnson?
What are your thoughts? Can anyone who has attended either school share their experience?
