Thank you to everyone on this website that has helped with GMAT advice, school help, and more! GMATClub was the first site I used when I began my research back in February and am fortunate to now be in this situation.
I am deciding between Emory and UNC, and am seeking additional insight and opinions to help with my decision.
Background: originally from the SE and desire to stay - Emory strong in Atlanta, UNC strong in Charlotte. I am indifferent to the regionality of each program.
Goals: Consulting - stats will likely make MBB difficult (at least K) but OK with T2/B4
I know Goizueta places a higher percentage in consulting, with higher median salaries, but UNC does have MBB firms OCR - definitely higher McK placements over the years than Emory but lower on others.
Does anyone have insight regarding the percentage of either class that recruits for consulting and ultimately converts? Curious if KF's lower consulting numbers are due to lack of interest or lack of T2/B4 connections. Also interested to know if >70% of Emory recruits for consulting while also leaving many out of luck.
I am aware these schools are in relatively the same tier and that I should choose based on fit as well. As someone who attended a large state school in UG I am not needing to recreate that atmosphere (seen a lot of admits excited for the college town aspect of CH). Having visited both, neither stands out as a better fit - Chapel Hill is arguably an easier place to live (traffic, slower paced), while Atlanta may be easier to network at MBB/T2/B4 (KF takes career treks to Atlanta..). Any insight here also appreciated.
The most important factor to me is maximizing my odds of landing a top consulting job, without sacrificing plan B options in Marketing CPG or other. UNC places OK but I am concerned the drop off after McK is severe as opposed to Goizueta's long standing reputation in consulting. That being said, the fact that KF's brand is probably better nationwide, has made this a tough decision.
