Hey bosshog, Congrats on getting admits from these schools! It's indeed a tough choice to make. I'll try to be as objective as possible.

Abhi has talked about Emory. Let me give you some numbers on UNC.
McKinsey has a good placement record at UNC and has constantly increased the number of students they take. 1 - 4 - 7 in the last 3 years. Deloitte has similar trends and has increased the numbers too. BCG and Bain are choosy and typically take in 1 student. Apart from this, EY, PWC, AT Kearny, Cognizant, TCS are other firms that recruit from campus and typically take anywhere between 3 - 5 students. I would say these are strong numbers for consulting.

Regarding the consulting club, there are treks to Charlotte, Atlanta and DC. And you get ample number of opportunities to meet with the people from these firms in the form of on campus presentations, office hours, lunches, office visits to Atlanta, DC and Charlotte, dinners etc. Deloitte has something called as Early connection that happens in September and sets you up for the recruiting season. Plus there is a Deloitte Case completion that guarantees you an offer in case you win or an interview if you are in the semis (not sure on this)

I would also agree to what BB has said that getting into consulting is difficult but if you network effectively and are focussed, prepare well for the casing rounds, it should not be a problem. It all boils down to how much a person is prepared in the interview and that has a high correlation with your preparation.

A small UNC plug here - You will fall in love with Chapel Hill (especially during the basketball season)

Hey bosshog ,

Congratulations for the two great admits. I completely agree with bb mentioned and looks like you have also done great research for the two schools.

I know alot many people from UNC who are struggling more than what people at Emory are. The reverse is also true. Having said that, we(Emory) do have access to more consulting firms locally. BCG, McKinsey and others do call students for office hours and other events locally. This has been helpful for many. Emory is the core school for EY - TAS/OTS/PI-PM/PI-Digital and Deloitte - S&O and Tech. They recruit alot many students from Emory every year. If you are domestic student, you will have ample of opportunities.

Getting into MBB is very hard but not impossible and we have good access to those positions.

I would make a choice between the two based on:

1. Money
2. Fit
3. My Gut feeling
4. City vs Town.

Good luck and keep us posted. :-)

abhimahna thank you so much for the quick reply and detailed feedback. You are an incredible ambassador for the school!

I am going to PM you a few additional questions if you don't mind!
