Hey,
I'm in an extremely fortunate position. My heart was set on doing my MBA in NYC, and I'm very lucky to be looking at the two most exciting options around. However, I'm also very torn.
If I go to Stern, I basically won't have to pay for anything but the costs of living. Columbia threw a bit of money after some negotiation, but it's not really comparable. It's certainly not enough to move the needle decisively.
I'm coming from a digital marketing agency, and my goal is to transition into big tech in a product marketing role. I'm planning to stay in the NYC area after graduation. I did my undergrad at Columbia.
I've tried to compare program cultures, but I think I might just be a generally agreeable dude because I've genuinely vibed with every person I've met from either program. I know the rankings difference is pretty clear, but is it actually $125k+ of a difference for an M7? I'm really torn.

I understand that in the New York City area there is not much difference in the hiring between Columbia and New York, so I would rather save money. Someone told me that NYUs tech MBA has had good recruiting, it probably brings in all the big tech companies.

With your goal of doing product marketing, you will have no issues getting that job in Stern. Look at PMM roles in Microsoft, Google, Adobe, Apple, Facebook etc. Go to Stern and make the money!
