Congratulations… kind of depends I guess.

If you’re looking to get into consulting and you feel your chances a good and you are not planning to be in the United States, Insead is a great choice.

Basically, if you are not planning to use the INSEAD recruiting machine then it is worth recapturing that value through the scholarship…. Though your experience is likely to be quite a bit different. IMD has its attractive side but I feel it is much more sleepy these days vs 10 years ago when it was a Top 3.

Hi bb, I'm facing a similar dilemma as op. I've seen this mentioned in other threads as well. How is IMD weaker than 10 years ago? Is it in recruiting, the network or the overall program?

Hi bb, I'm facing a similar dilemma as op. I've seen this mentioned in other threads as well. How is IMD weaker than 10 years ago? Is it in recruiting, the network or the overall program?

IMD used to be a top 3 European business school, I don't think many people think that these days. They've had a very hard time filling in seats, the class is quite old for an MBA (do your research but I think that the class avg was 32/33?), and a quote I heard that resonated with me is that it became a check for older Swiss based execs that need the MBA to advance their careers, therefore the recruiting took a back seat.

In my head, this last point might also be an opportunity, I always saw IMD as a place where you can network with your classmates to get a job at a Swiss corporate/financial institution (but mostly corporate, to avoid overselling).

INSEAD is a notch higher. I think that what bb meant was, if you're sponsored or going back to your company after graduation, then the scholarship makes a lot of sense, because you won't be using the recruiting office of any school, and as said before IMDs is not great.

If you are looking to recruit, I'd go to INSEAD. Good recruiting services, and global in ways IMD is not. I myself got a job in Switzerland after graduation for example (in Lausanne actually!). Lastly, a job in the US from a European business school is super tough, unless you have a H1B. If your objective is to be in the US, I'd suggest you make your life easier and go to a US school.
