Firstly, congrats for the offers - huge achievement!
I’m also a LatAm and got offers to Darden/Fuqua/Yale/NYU, with scholarships for the first two. I’m currently at Darden, and my two cents on your decision:
a) first of all, try to negotiate the scholarships. Do it simultaneously with the schools, so you can potentially reach an equal level in all of them;
b) Darden is amazing is both IB/Consulting. Just so you have an idea, I had offers for the two biggest consulting firms and a friend, also LatAm, for BofA (only two among lots of examples). So, you’ll be very well served in this aspect(
c) When deciding, lots of ppl thought I should pick Yale - only because, as in your case with Tuck, it has a better known brand in some parts in latam. However, Darden is VERY strong in the US - just take a look at the high placements;
d) The community at Darden is awesome. Also, I couldn’t imagine myself living in a city as small and cold as Hanover - Cville is small enough for you to get lots of green area, wineries and, overall, a breath of fresh air, while also have options of what to do. Hanover might be too small (my opinion)(
e) Darden’s 100% case-method. As such, don’t expect your life to be easy during core - it won’t be. However, you’ll be rewarded with improved English, better communication skills and learn how to think quicker;
f) please, take advantage of the pre-MBA recruiting programs, it doesn’t matter which school you pick.
Hope to see you at Darden soon!
