I’ve been struggling to come to a decision on my choice of business school and I am only lost 😑.
My background:
I am and Indian, female, 32, with 1 year working in marketing for a leading automobile company and 7 years of work experience in running and scaling a manufacturing setup in Consumer goods space in India. It is a family business-entrepreneurship experience within which I have set up a new manufacturing plant and expanded the markets domestically as well as internationally. I have offers from Michigan Ross and HEC Paris. I want to pursue Consulting or Consumer Goods post MBA and need to gain insights into job offers for these industries and ultimately, decide on which school to attend.
I would greatly appreciate any insights/ help into these programs.

Both schools are good..
Given your post MBA goals going ahead with Ross will be good decision..

Congratulations on your admits.
To be very upfront, it’s hard for international applicants to break into consumer goods. It’s not impossible but you can go and check the H1B database for a number of companies such as Nestlé or Unilever and similar and see how few international H1B applicants work there. So if that is where you were looking to go, it won’t be in the US won so perhaps not Ross.
On the other hand, automotive work experience is something you can leverage if you wanted to stay in that industry but it didn’t seem like you did. Consulting is definitely an option out of Ross but again it’s very competitive and while Ross and other schools have good placement numbers, I’ve known many people who did not get through the second or the third interview. presentation skills and delivery and being quick on your feet while projecting a friendly and confident outlook a very important for recruiting. It’s definitely possible to learn all of these, presenting and communicating are learned skills and are also perishable skills so that’s some thing I would suggest practicing and learning regardless of which program you go to. Being a good communicator and a good speaker and a good presenter will be hugely helpful for recruiting.
PS. If you don’t speak one of the European languages, your recruiting options will be somewhat limited out of HEC. One option will be Netherlands, another one UK, but other than that are you looking at Dubai or going back home. You are expected to speak a local language if you want to get a job there… also European Consulting salaries suck 😂😇
