If you say 100k CAD is enough, that would just be enough to survive I suppose and not save anything right? Would it factor in being able to afford a car or a mortgage for example?

I don’t think either of these NBA programs or really any of them including Harvard would give you a job. You would have to work and also beat out all of your other competition when it comes to recruiting.

It’s not like a highly successful wealth management firm with a bunch of Harvard and MIT PhD‘s n staff is going to look at your Georgetown or Rotman degree and salivate over it. They will not even care if you have a car or Stanford. That’s not good enough by itself.

You need to start looking at the employers and researching companies and identify positions and companies where you want to work and after doing that for a few days, you should get a pretty decent picture in terms of which program has more alumni or opportunities to recruit.

All the companies going to work for located in the US or on the West Coast, then neither of these programs are really a good fit…

My overall opinion is that Canadian schools are usually a worse investment than the American programs. There are more jobs and better paying jobs in the US. Canadian job market favors people with prior work experience so trying to get a tech p.m. role is going to be tougher in Canada if you don’t have prior experience. Also, the pay not as good as the US but the immigration is easier….

PS. Hoping you got some money from one of these to offset the big bill 😇

Have seen you often bashing Canadian programs and compare them with US MBA programs. Canada and US markets cannot really be compared.

US population and GDP are 10X of Canada. And as per Canadian standards avg salaries of 100k OR more out of MBA is a decent salary. Ofcourse current economic scenario especially since Covid and inflation it is debatable if 100-120k salary is really a high salary.

I can agree with the fact that there are more opportunities, but as an international student I would be excluded from some if not many employment opportunities and with PGWM in Canada the sponsoring hastle sort of goes away.
Also would you advise coming to the US under current economic conditions?

Another question would be are US employers in Tech more open to hiring someone with a software engineering background for a PM role compared to Canadian emplyers.

Mainly want to assess if the are relatively more MBA product management associate roles in US compared to Canada for international students?

Everything boils down to where you want to settle and what you can afford (in terms of tuition).

- In regards to opportunities, they are going to be more in US in comparison to Canada for obvious reasons
- if you have a STEM MBA, you get 3 years (OPT+STEM OPT)
- And cost of living in Toronto area is - 2500-3000 for a 1bed apartment
- If you are sharing a 2bed apartment expect to spend around 1500 (rent plus utilities)for a decent apartment

PS: I lived in Toronto downtown for a year couple of years ago and very well familiar woth cost of living
