herxheys12 - Your profile presents some interesting angles, but the score (as you've mentioned) is on the lower side for ISB.

While there is no one magic score, aiming for a 665-675+ on the GMAT would be ideal.

All the best!

I am a TV journalist in Manitoba, Canada. I have a Bachelor's Degree (Hons.) in English Literature with Journalism and Psychology. Other than that, I have a post-secondary diploma in Broadcast Journalism from Seneca College, Toronto.

In terms of professional experience, I have now worked for about 2 years with Global News as an On-camera talent/reporter/journalist. Other than that, I have internship experiences with CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Channel), Indian Express and the Tribune. On top of that, I have freelance project experience with Bethel University, Minnesota, US -- where I produced a long-form documentary on Haryana's (India) dairy industry and a magazine that was published in the states about Haryana's agricultural and social state. The project was shot in India but it was created for Bethel University's journalism department.

In the terms of school projects, I was the editor in chief of my college's (Tier 2) annual journalism magazine for two years where I contributed to the college's design curriculum and updated their digital tools. I was in charge of every element from gathering content, curating it, and to publishing the magazine.

In terms of personal achievements, I published an anthropology of about 60 poetic pieces when I was 16 -- which was honoured by the Haryana Granth Academy in 2016. (Note -- I did not pay for publication)

Finally my academics. They aren't great.

10th grade - 8.8 CGPA
12th grade - 74.3 % (Non Medical, PCM)
Bachelor's - 63.5 % (First Division)
Journalism Diploma - 3.2 GPA out of 4.
GMAT - 585 (It was my first attempt and it failed miserably. I am looking to give it again after a few months, with actual preparation this time around) Targeting 645 for now. But What should I be targeting?

I am unsure about my profile and what things I could improve on. I like some other schools too like MICA, Ahemdabad. But again, I am unsure about my profile. I don't have great academics but I have a lot of experience working with different cohorts of people from around the world. I have worked with people from over 30 different nationalities. My strength is diversity. My weakness is academics.

I want to either get into Marketing or product management.

herxheys,

Your profile stands out as relatively diverse compared to the more traditional ISB applicant pool, which can work in your favor if positioned thoughtfully.
Your projects appear impactful, but the real differentiator will be how you frame them — specifically:
  • The scale and complexity of the problem
  • Your individual ownership (not just team contribution)
  • Measurable outcomes
  • What you learned and how it shaped your trajectory
ISB values reflection and clarity, not just achievement.
On the test score front, I would recommend considering a retake. A GMAT Focus 665+ would place you in a more competitive bracket. Since you still have time before the application cycle begins, a retake is realistic if you can improve meaningfully. Alternatively, you could explore the GRE and target 325+ to strengthen the academic signal.
Equally important — your post-MBA goal currently sounds a bit generic. ISB tends to favor candidates with a clearly articulated and credible career bridge. Refining the specificity and feasibility of your goals will significantly improve your positioning.
If you’d like a deeper diagnostic on how to structure your narrative strategically, happy to continue the discussion.

All the Best!
