Hi !

You should specify which are the schools you are targeting. Moreover, your academic details are not given, hence difficult to suggest.

However, you must try to cross 650 or so to remain competitive.

Thanks

Which college did you graduate from?

Slightly modest grades; target 685+ on the GMAT.

Hi,

Considering you will have close to 4 years of work experience by next March, you would be eligible for programs like ISB, IIMA PGPX, IIMK PGP-BL, IIMM MBA, IIMU MBA GSCM/DEM, SPJIMR PGPM, and XLRI PGDM GM.

I would strongly recommend spending some time refining your post-MBA goals, as greater clarity around your intended career path will significantly strengthen your applications.

In terms of test scores, you should ideally target a GMAT FE score around 675 for ISB. While the average for the one-year IIM programs is typically a bit lower, aiming for 645+ would still keep you competitive across programs.

All the Best!

Dear Stealthz3r,

Please find below my evaluation of your profile:

Strengths
  • Catastrophe modeling at AXA XL is a niche, high-value domain. This positions you well in risk and insurance-focused programs
  • The creative freelance background (art + 3D) during COVID shows initiative and entrepreneurial thinking outside corporate structure
  • PMP at an early career stage signals structured thinking and delivery mindset
Areas to Work On
  • No evidence of leadership in the form of managing people, leading projects, or driving organizational change
  • Career story feels flat : 4 years in one role without visible growth, promotions, or expanding scope is a red flag
  • Football stays in school, nothing post-college; suggests extracurricular engagement died after graduation
  • Academics show a declining trend : 8.6 to 84% to 7.0 CGPA needs to be addressed proactively
Recommendation
  • Build a compelling "scope expansion" narrative within AXA XL; client exposure, model ownership, cross-team projects
  • Think of a compelling story from your work such as : How do insurers price premiums when COVID, wars, embargoes, silicon shortage etc. make historical catastrophe data irrelevant for future risk?
  • Pursue one leadership role outside work immediately. It can be mentorship, industry association, community initiative, forming and contributing to a niche interest specific group etc.
  • As far as GMAT is concerned, aim for 675+

I am an ISB Alum, CO15, and have been mentoring applicants crack ISB, IIMs and global MBA programs for last 8+ years. Feel free to reach out to seek guidance as and when you are ready.

Cheers and wish you all the very best !!

Stealthz3r - some more details can help assess better e.g. undergrad university, nature of your role(s), key projects, any progressions/ promotions?, directional career goals.

While there's no magic score, aiming for a 675-685+ with a balanced sectional split would be ideal for ISB and IIM's.

Arvind
