Hi Everyone

I am 26 years old male. Below are my profile details.

Class X - 10 CGPA
Class XII - 90.2%
Bachelors in Commerce (Hons) from Delhi University - 8.47 GPA
Masters in Finance from Ohio State University - 3.67 GPA

GMAT - Yet to take the test. I scored 700 in the previous format 6 years ago but those results have expired.

Cleared first 2 levels of CFA and planning to appear for Level 3 soon.

Work Experience: 1 year work experience at KPMG as Audit Associate in India before moving to US. Joined a renewable energy company in US as an analyst in FP&A team. Got promoted within 2 years and currently working as Senior Analyst in the team. Total working experience so far 3.5 years ( 1 year in India and 2.5 years in USA).

Extracurriculars: Won various competitions during Bachelors. I was part of some societies during Bachelors where I helped in organizing events. Have interest in pickleball not sure if that matters. I also volunteered for an NGO event in Delhi.

Requesting if people can evaluate my profile

Thank You
Your significant workex in US will work to your advantage.

You've not mentioned your motivation for MBA. Nevertheless, as long as you get 675+ on the GMAT and work diligently on your application, there are decent chances of an interview invite.

HI Sparsh,

first of all, are you working in the US currently and looking at the MBA to move back into the India job market? Or are you also planning to apply to some US based programs? This will remarkably change your application strategy and profile requirements. The US b-schools are more competitive and therefore you will need to work that much harder on your profile. Lets start with the academics first.

1. GPA- Your undergrad + post grad GPA are both very competitive. Well done on that. You already know you will need to take the GMAT - aim for a 685+ score for both US and Indian programs. At some US programs, you can apply with a GMAT waiver and that]' where your CFA can help. Although this is not my favored approach, but mentioning it here as FYI.

2. Work experience - Sounds good, but I need to know the details about your achievements, impact, how you helped the company's top line/ bottom line through any impactful initiatives etc. The promotion looks good and should be highlighted in the resume. The international experience adds more weight to your candidacy - especially if you can recount your learnings/ change in world view (ISB had asked that question last year). Inter

3. Goals - You haven't mentioned- but this is the most important part that determines your fate in MBA admissions. WHat do you plan to do post MBA, why and why do you need an MBA, given that you already have an MFin? B-schools are not trying to gatekeep you by asking this, but they want to ensure that you have thought about your career plans and understand why you need an MBA.

4. ECAs- Your ECAs are thin with no participation in any activity since college in India. This will hurt you more if you apply to the US programs and not so much at ISB. Pickleball is a fun pursuit, and its not going to impress much. If you plan on applying in R2. you could get involved in some community initiatives.

Hi Sparsh3008, your undergrad & masters pedigrees/ GPAs, CFA levels and international exposure are strong angles.

I'd like to understand your work-ex more to assess better: which company/ companies have you worked in, core projects/ achievements, was the promotion in-line with team/ industry standards (or fast-tracked) etc.

Also, any extracurricular involvement post Masters?

As Ashish has indicated above, it'd also be important to have a robust application narrative covering your career goals, and why MBA/ ISB.

Feel free to reach out here for a discussion.

Regards,
Arvind
