My Quant is not the best, but I am just wondering if this question could really be solved in under 2 minutes?
It took me 3 minutes to finish calculating the values for choice C (I started at A), and that was already way over the recommended time to be spent on a question.

To answer a question based on functions, it is a good strategy to use numbers.

A) f(x) = -|x|
Let x = 2. => f(2) = -|2| = -2
Now, f(f(x)) = f(f(2)) = f(-2) = -|-2| = -2
and f(f(f(f(x)))) = f(f(f(f(2)))) = f(f(f(-2))) = f(f(-2)) = f(-2) = -2........... INCORRECT

B) f(x) = 2 - x
Let x= 3. => f(x) = f(3) = 2 - 3 = -1
Now, f(f(x)) = f(f(3)) = f(-1) = 3
and f(f(f(f(x)))) = f(f(f(f(3)))) = f(f(f(-1))) = f(f(3)) = f(-1) = 3..........INCORRECT

C) f(x) = 3x
Let x = 2. => f(x) = f(2) = 6
Now, f(f(x)) = f(f(2)) = f(6) = 18
and f(f(f(f(x)))) = f(f(f(f(2)))) = f(f(f(6))) = f(f(18)) = f(54) = 162...........CORRECT

D) f(x) = 4/x
Let x = 2. => f(x) = f(2) = 4/2 = 2
Now, f(f(x)) = f(f(2)) = f(2) = 2
and f(f(f(f(x)))) = f(f(f(f(2)))) = f(f(f(2))) = f(f(2)) = f(2) = 2...........INCORRECT

E) f(x) = 5
Now, f(f(x)) = f(5) = 5
and f(f(f(f(x)))) = f(f(f(f(5)))) = f(f(f(5))) = f(f(5)) = f(5) = 5...........INCORRECT
